12/28/2008 - Calgary, AB (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Rene Bourque registered his first career hat trick in Calgary's 6-3 win over the Senators, as Ottawa was dealt its 11th consecutive road loss.
Todd Bertuzzi had a goal and an assist for the Flames, who won for the fourth time in five contests. Andre Roy and Adrian Aucoin also lit the lamp, while Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 27 shots.
The Flames, who turned a 2-0 deficit into a lead by scoring three times in a 2:07 span of the second period, beat the Senators for a fourth straight time.
"It's a good feeling," said Bourque. "The puck was going in for me tonight. Once I got that first one we got a lot of turnovers, odd-man rushes and we got the ball rolling."
Chris Phillips, Jason Spezza and Alexandre Picard had the goals for Ottawa, which has dropped seven of nine overall. Alex Auld gave up five goals on 41 shots.
"Every time we seemed to make mistakes they seemed to be in the back of the net," said Spezza. "When you're losing games it's hard to get out of it. Obviously, we're not happy where we are right now, but we played pretty hard. We have to find a way to start getting some wins and get above .500 on this trip."
The Senators, who played the second of eight straight on the road, haven't won an away game since October 30 against the Florida Panthers. They won't return to Scotiabank Place until January 10 to play the New York Rangers.
Despite this being a nine-goal contest, neither team scored in the first period but Phillips and Spezza netted goals 7:20 apart in the second.
The game then changed in favor of the Flames thanks to Bourque, who had two goals in a span of 58 seconds. His first of the night came at 10:05 on a wraparound, and he scored again on a shot from above the left circle.
It became 3-2 Calgary when Adam Pardy directed a cross-ice pass to Roy, who was alone at the right side of the net for the tap-in.
Ottawa tied the game on Picard's power play tally 8:15 into the third when he lifted the puck from the high slot past a screened Kiprusoff, but the Flames responded 44 seconds later. Mike Cammalleri faked a shot from the right circle and passed to the lower left circle for a successful one-timer from Aucoin.
Bourque completed his hat trick with 5:35 remaining on a give-and-go with Daymond Langkow. Bourque had the disc along the left boards and passed to Langkow behind the net, and Bourque then scored from in front for his 14th marker of the season.
Bertuzzi scored into an empty net with 1:16 left.

Trash talk has a place in every competitive endeavor (except baseball; those stirrup-wearers are too busy chewing on their sunflower seeds and their supplements to worry about what their opponents are doing).
Fantasy sports is no exception. Any intelligent discussion of the subject would probably start with a thesis statement or a definition of terms. Thankfully, this wont be an intelligent discussion.
Let me just say that I am happy to take a place in this space alongside my talented colleagues, even our commissioner. (You should see how she bleats like a demented paper boy about league fees on our fantasy site).
Trash talking, I would argue, is primarily about amusing your friends, their sheeplike demeanors and sloping foreheads notwithstanding. The best place I have found for football trash talking is at www.SportsAlarm.com.
Beyond the entertainment factor, though, I would recognize that the sophomoric ritual has one advantage, when properly applied. It magnifies your fantasy triumphs and mitigates your fantasy failures by transforming the eventual point total into an afterthought. Winning makes it seem like your opponent really is a truss-owning, lapel-pin-wearing nitwit. And in defeat, trash talk can be the air bag to break the fall from your hyperbolic heights. The plug-necked yahoos on your team, you can say, will be sacking groceries by the end of the season.
The best trash talk, in my view, is layered and nuanced. And it doesnt focus only on your opponents team. It picks apart your opponent. The idea is to create a shock-and-awe-scale blizzard of nonsense, and the goal is to make your opponent drop his hands from his keyboard in exasperation.
What team does your opponent root for? Accuse a Giants fan of having a Joe Namath pillowcase. Wheres your opponent from? Give a look of concern no matter his reply, then say, I'll try to type slower for you next time. Is your opponent into politics? Label everyone a tax-and-spend corporate shill.
Cap all that with a liberal application of irrelevance. For instance, dont just conclude by saying your opponent is a twerp who drafts like my grandmother. Say that your opponent is a sweater-wearing, eyebrow-plucking twerp who drafts his team about as well as Zsa Zsa Gabor gave acceptance speeches at the Oscars. By the time your foe makes sense of that, his starting running back will have had puppies.
But what about you? Hmm? Recall a memorable slam? Have a tried-and-true technique? Know someone who seems impervious to insult? Take a moment and tells us about it. Put together some (fit-for-publication) thoughts. You wont be too busy returning phone messages from your friends, Im sure, to reply.
In addition to the trash talking, the Sports Alarm has a huge gallery of high resolution pictures of beautiful women and models in bikinis. The most popular models are: Lindsay Lohan, Carrie Underwood, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Paris Hilton.

With the field of 64/65 set, MySportsbook.com has the Florida Gators as the 4-1 favorite to successfully defend their National Championship. Men’s Division-1 College Basketball has not seen a team repeat as National Champions since Duke won back to back championships in ’91 & ‘92. After losing three out of four late in the season, the Gators are full of momentum as they won their last four games by an average of 18 points. Not surprisingly, right behind the Gators are the other three top seeds: Kansas 5-1, UNC 6-1, and Ohio State 7-1. Many consider Kansas to be the hottest team in the country, having won 11 straight. With Kansas, it is hard to ignore all of the early exits from the “dance” in recent years. With an impressive ACC Tournament, UNC ensured themselves the other top seed. UNC has about as much talent as any other team in the tournament but with a team that’s best players are primarily freshman and sophomores, could youth be a concern. Behind freshman sensation, Greg Oden, OSU will look to do what their football team failed to do just a few months earlier. OSU seems to have peeked at the right time, as they currently have a 17 game winning streak. Since the tournament field was expanded in 1985, there has never been an instance where all four #1 seeds advanced to the Final Four. It is obvious that each of the top seeds have the talent to make it through to Atlanta. But as everyone knows, when makes the NCAA Tournament so special are all of the spoilers and “Cinderella” stories that knock off the favorites on a daily basis.
