09/20/2007 - London, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - A little over one day after Chelsea played to a 1-1 draw with Rosenborg in Champions League play, manager Jose Mourinho's three-year run as manager of Chelsea ended on Thursday.
In a stunning announcement that will shake up not only England but the rest of Europe, the club's website confirmed Mourinho's departure in a short statement.
"Chelsea Football Club and Jose Mourinho have agreed to part company today (Thursday) by mutual consent."
Reportedly, Mourinho had contacted some of his veteran players, such as Frank Lampard, and informed them late Wednesday night that he would not return after talks at Stamford Bridge ended with his departure.
Mourinho made a name for himself by guiding FC Porto to the 2004 Champions League title before taking over at Chelsea in June of that year.
He lead the club to Premiership titles in his first two seasons, as well as the FA Cup last year and a pair of Carling Cup crowns in 2005 and 2007.
The Portuguese manager has posted a 124-21-40 mark in his stay in London, including a record 60-match unbeaten streak in Premiership play at Stamford Bridge.
It is no secret that Mourinho and owner Roman Abramovich have not seen eye- to-eye lately.
The feud began last season when Abramovich failed to supply Mourinho with the financial backing he needed to secure his transfer targets in January, which Mourinho feels is one of the reasons that Manchester United was able to wrestle the Premiership title away from Chelsea.
Abramovich, for his part, has sunk nearly one billion dollars into the club, and has to be frustrated that Chelsea has failed to capture Europe's biggest prize, the Champions League.
Tuesday's disappointing draw with Rosenborg in front of a less-than-impressive crowd looks to be the breaking point for the two.
Mourinho has continued to publicly voice his opinions over Chelsea's need for the best players, which can't sit well with Abramovich, since the Blues already boast a loaded roster of players.
Chelsea has gotten off to a slow start by its standards, posting a 3-1-2 mark in league play and struggling to find the goal with just seven tallies in six matches.
Director of football Avram Grant is expected to take over the team for its big EPL contest at Manchester United on Sunday. However, Grant does not appear to be the long-term answer, and Abramovich is expected to look for a more high profile man to put on the bench.
Among the names that have been thrown out there is Russia coach Guus Hiddink and former Germany manager Jurgen Klinsmann. Sevilla's Juande Ramos is another possibility after leading the club to back-to-back UEFA Cup titles.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.
(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977. Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.
Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer. In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite. After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.
Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions. They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.
The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.
MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.
Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
