Brewers place Dessens on DL; promote 3B Braun

05/25/2007 - Milwaukee, WI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Milwaukee Brewers placed relief pitcher Elmer Dessens on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a right shoulder strain. The move is retroactive to May 19.

Dessens, acquired from the Dodgers on March 26 in exchange for outfielder Brady Clark and cash considerations, is 1-1 with a 6.60 ERA in 12 relief appearances for Milwaukee this season.

To take his spot on the roster, the Brewers purchased the contract of third baseman Ryan Braun from Triple-A Nashville. Braun, the fifth overall pick in the 2005 draft, batted .342 with 10 home runs and 22 RBI in 33 games for Nashville this season. The 23-year-old will join the team in San Diego on Friday.
