Brewers put season-high win streak on the line vs. Fister, M's

Baseball Betting Lines

06/26/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Milwaukee Brewers will try to add to their season-high five-game winning streak today, as they continue a three-game series with the Seattle Mariners at Miller Park.

Last night, Jonathan Lucroy hit a three-run home run as the Milwaukee Brewers downed the Seattle Mariners, 8-3, in the first of a three-game interleague set.

Carlos Gomez and Alcides Escobar each drove in two runs while Prince Fielder added an RBI for the Brewers, whose winning streak has helped them make up 2 1/2 games in the standings on NL Central-Leading St. Louis. Milwaukee though, still trails the Cardinals by 7 1/2 games.

Dave Bush (3-5) won his second straight start as he was charged with three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits with three strikeouts over six innings.

Milton Bradley, Franklin Gutierrez and Mike Sweeney each drove in a run for the Mariners, who have dropped their past two after winning a season-high six in a row.

Ryan Rowalnd-Smith (1-7) gave up five runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings of work.

"You can take this back to two pitches in the fourth," said Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu. "The fastball up to Lucroy and the changeup to Gomez for the back-to-back home runs. We looked good early with the three-run lead, but then it turned around in a hurry."

The Mariners are hoping for a better performance from today's starter Doug Fister, who was just activated from the 15-day disabled list. Fister was last on the hill on May 31st, when he allowed five earned runs and eight hits in 7 2/3 innings of a 5-4 loss to Minnesota. He was placed on the DL with right shoulder fatigue following that start.

The right-hander, who is making his first interleague start, made one rehabilitation outing for Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, giving up two runs in four innings of work.

Randy Wolf will counter for the Brewers and he has posted a 1.93 ERA over his last two starts. The left-hander was last on the hill this past Sunday, giving up just one earned run and three hits over seven innings of work at Colorado. He left without receiving a decision in the team's eventual 6-1 triumph.

The veteran dropped his only two career starts against Seattle, both of which came in 2008, posting a 4.66 ERA over those outings.

This is the first series between Seattle and Milwaukee since the Brewers won two of three matchups back in 2004 at Miller Park.
